LifeLines Publishing offers freelance writing and editing services to individuals, businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations. Whether you want to turn a manuscript into a self-published book, a website into a client-attracting tool, or a photo into a fundraising appeal, LifeLines can help. Annual Reports, blogs, brochures, business cards, catalogs, Facebook pages, newsletters, memorial programs—all are ways to share your story with the world.

Fee ranges for basic manuscripts are listed below, but if the service you need doesn’t fit within your budget, check with me anyway. I may be able to offer you a different level of help, or I might know of other sources you could check.

Service packages available

1. Proofreading Package

If your writing is fairly polished, but you’d like some fresh eyes to look it over, this is the package for you. It includes:

  • Checking spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammar
  • Emailing you a corrected Word document (with “Track changes” on, if desired)

Proofreading Package cost: $15 per 1,000 words

2. Basic Editing Package

Many people need help simplifying sentences, clarifying wording, or cleaning up sentence construction. For them, the recommend service is the Basic Editing Package, which includes:

  • Checking spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammar
  • Replacing words that are used incorrectly
  • Shortening sentences where necessary to help with clarity
  • Asking questions about intended meanings
  • Maintaining your voice throughout the process
  • Emailing you a revised Word document (If there are areas needing further clarity, those will be highlighted with questions or suggestions inserted.)

Basic Editing Package cost: $40 per 1,000 words

3. Editorial Support Package

If you need a more active editorial role in rewriting and reworking your manuscript, LifeLines can provide that as well. The Active Editorial Involvement Package includes:

  • Checking spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammar
  • Replacing words that are used incorrectly
  • Shortening sentences or rewriting them to help with clarity
  • Asking questions about intended meanings
  • Reorganizing sections of material to improve story flow
  • Maintaining your voice throughout the process
  • Emailing you a revised Word document with highlights noting areas that need your further input

Editorial Support Package cost: $75 per 1,000 words

4. Beautiful Book Package

When you want your manuscript in a format ready for final printing or download, choose this service, which includes:

  • Choosing appropriate fonts for your subject matter
  • Recommending book size and binding
  • Designing page layout and chapter headings
  • Designing a cover
  • Including any illustrations you provide (either as emailed JPEGs or mailed prints that we can scan and save)
  • Emailing you a high-resolution PDF that meets your printer’s specifications (If you don’t have a specific printer in mind, LifeLines can handle the printing for you or make recommendations.)
  • Designing and printing 100 business cards about your book, with a picture of the cover, and your contact information or ordering information

Beautiful Book Package cost: $40 per 1,000 words*

*This cost includes layout only, not proofreading, editing, rewriting, or printing. Some people do not require editorial services but need help turning their manuscript into a print-ready file.

Terms

An email indicating acceptance of rates for any particular job will be considered a signed contract.

Fees are payable 50% in advance, balance upon delivery. Any revisions to submitted jobs must be requested within 14 days of receipt of copy.

Payment is due within 30 days of receipt of invoice. Late payments will be subject to interest charges of 10%.

BONUS

When you let LifeLines help you, you help others! At least 20% of all project income is donated to worthy causes that make the world a better place. Right now we’re supporting ministry at home and abroad: Requip in Chicago’s suburbs, and Wycliffe Bible Translators in Indonesia’s remote villages.
