11/11/11

I began this year at 1:11 on 1/1/11 with a blog post called Resolution: Every Week in 2011. It was an announcement that I had accepted an initiative launched by WordPress.com, the PostAWeek challenge. I committed to posting at least once a week throughout 2011.

A lot has changed since 1:11, 1/1/11. I switched blogging platforms, for one thing, which separated me from the PostAWeek community that is blogging on WordPress.com. But blogging on WordPress.org has given me more control over the business side of my blog, and I’ve learned a lot about HTML, widgets, optimum line length, and mobile platforms. (Shout-out to Jim Lodico at Quick and Easy Blog, who helped me make the transfer, and who stuck around to answer questions that cropped up from time to time.)

So now it’s 11:11 on 11/11/11, and I just want to say, Thanks for sharing the PostAWeek journey with me this year. Thanks for showing up week after week to read, comment, and share. Thanks for making this blog a conversation, not just a column.

There are a few more weeks left in the PostAWeek 2011 challenge, and I already have some fun content lined up to finish out the year, including Thanksgiving Top 5 – 2011 Edition (an annual tradition) and Guess the Christmas Carol (a contest, with prizes!).

So keep coming back! Keep reading! Keep participating! I appreciate the connections.

Have you ever read a book that totally messed with your mind—and your faith? When Helping Hurts is that kind of book. Read it, and you may never go on a mission trip again. Find out more by clicking the image.

Not only do books inform our opinions, they also expand our horizons. Not only can they improve our writing, but they can also give us something meaningful to talk about. Click the image to read what I learned about race relations from this book.
